I own a 2011 Vantage S Roadster with the auto dimming rearview mirror. I would like to replace it with the integrated Homelink version but I am not prepared to pay the Aston tax of £652 to do so. As our cars are made up from the parts bins from the other manufacturers Ford owned at the time does anyone know where these mirrors originated from, possibly Volvo, and what the part number is for that manufacturer ?

If nobody can answer the question please could someone with the Homelink version in their car post a picture of the back of the mirror the clearly shows the part info embossed on it.

Many thanks

Good question. I considered doing such an upgrade on my MY2010 DBS, but after some research it seemed not that easy. Was not possible to just buy a new mirror, more work had to be done.

Now I have a spare HL remote in my door, that costs less than Euro 40 and that works too cool

Fitted the homelink dimming mirror to my 2006 DB9 Volante, doesn't need much other than a permanent live for the homelink memory.

I have a home link mirror, in my rapide, and found that I could not link it with my chamberlain door opener.

I searched the internet thinking that I was doing something wrong with the programming (even though was following the owners manual step by step, in fact I tried both procedures biggrin ), only to find that after certain age the newer door openers changed security protocols and are not compatible and need additional decoders that i could not find.

So opted to have the button via tiny remote in the glove box or on the phone smile works well, although would have been nice to be able to use the mirror buttons.

Thx, looks good!

Apparantly my dealer was no able to do that install for a reasonable price......including a new mirror with HL buttons, permanent power wiring, installation (coding?), it would cost close to Euro 1K, that was not worth it for me. Maybe the extra permanent power line was an issue?

The problem is with increasing security (rightly so) with garage door openers - most of them now have rolling codes and even though the remote controllers say they can interface, they usually can't, especially the older ones such as in Homelink mirrors etc.

When I got my roller door installed it came with a remote control button but always wanted something better more automated. Eventually settled on a Remootio smart door opener that I wired into the manual door controller so that enabled me to use my smart phone to open/close the door and then used SmartThings with AndroidAuto so that it detects when I'm coming home (within a set distance and connected to AndroidAuto), it sends me a notification on screen so that I can click to accept and the door opens ready for when I get on the driveway.

Cool!

I use Domoticz, also in Android Auto, but was not able to get the garage door programmed in it......I can use it in almost every car with Homelink however.
