Hi,

I've recently been taking my bravery pills and have bought a beautiful 2008 n400 roadster. So I might be here a bit 😅

It's recently been in for a check over and I've got a list of hopefully smallish issues that I'd rather have a crack at myself rather than pay the £140 odd quid an hour my local specialist charge.

One that's stumped me a little is the boot lid button not working. I can see why it doesn't work... But not sure of the best approach to fixing it.

On either side of the rail that the boot lid button is attached two is two circular pads... That I would assume at one time were connected to the frame. This is no longer the case... So when the buttons is pressed the rail flexes. Putting upwards pressure on the rail allows the button to work.

Can anyone suggest a suitable DIY way to get those connected again?. I'm afraid weldings a bit out of my league, but maybe will need to be that at an independent if required.

Cheers
Richard.

Afraid I can’t offer help on the boot button issue.

I presume you mean the button on the boot itself, if so it’s a simple electrical connector, available on scuderia parts, £181.63 incl VAT and shipping.

https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part-finder/aston...

Is it this you mean?

If so can likely can buy from AM dealer parts cheaper, Scuderia will simply place the order with AM, receive and ship on to you.

Also welcome to the N400 roadster club, I recently joined in June too. Any details, colour and # of the “240”. Mines is lightning silver and #5.

Thanks, it's not the actual connector.. it's the little rail that hosts the connector, which has become detached from the strut across the boot so doesn't offer any resistance... It just moves slightly with the press of the button. I think the answer is likely to be a couple of rivets but haven't commited yet.

I think we might have twins separated at birth.. pretty sure mine is #4 I'll check later.. also in lightning silver. So expect your boot button to go soon! If it's of interest search YouTube for 'jayemm n400' there's a couple of videos on the car.

That’s funny, I actually watched that video before buying my car. My boot button is working a ok but will certainly watch out for it.

My car appears on Astonmartins.com, it’s the photos of the lightening silver n400 at dusk where it starts to look very blue.
