Considering a 20153 Mini Challenge 210...

Anything specific I need to look out for re the car itself and its B48 engine?
It's already had the JCW brakes upgrade, from the reading I've done, that's a worthy upgrade
It's to be for a weekend driving car; so the likes of fuel economy etc aren't a worry as it'll be lucky to do 3-4k miles a year

Why not just go for a JCW? From what i can see the 210 is the Cooper S with the power upgrade and some stickers.
The B48 is a proven reliable engine used in everything from BMW/Mini these days. Oil changes are every 2 years 19k miles so make sure none have been missed even if its low mileage.

They're not in budget that I've seen; don't want to spend more than £10k and the ones I've seen are all £12k upwards; if not moreThe B48 is a proven reliable engine used in everything from BMW/Mini these days. Only a little thing but I have noticed a fair number of these have the poverty spec 1980’s radio
I’d have to budget for a 8” upgrade, but at those prices I’d not be complaining
Some early history of bore-score and piston issues over a short period of time sorry but I cannot recall exact details as I was in an diesel powered mini at the time so worthy of some further digging … rather than jumping straight into a car…
