Intermittent Sat Nav fault

2016 Mondeo, it has an intermittent fault with the sat nav. After a few minutes it will go blank and "Navigation Fault" legend comes on the screen. I've done a reset of the unit with no difference to the behaviour.
It's not a major problem as we have Car Play and Android Auto, but occasionally it's handy to use the in built nav, especially when carrying families. It's one of the pool cars at a funeral director's so it's used a lot for route planning etc. If we've got a family in the car we have phones switched off, so it's much easier to have the in built navigation.
Ford want to put a whole new unit in with no mention of timescale or cost. Any ideas? Would a unit from a scrapper need coding?
