Morning,

I have tried searching on forums but the results are open source.... presumably I am doing something wrong.

I need to do an oil change on my 7 with an Apollo tank and have a couple of questions:

1) Do I need to remove the Apollo sump bolt or (as I have time on my side) can I leave it to drain overnight into the sump? Or, if undo the inlet pipe will it drain immediately into the sump?

2) When does the sump gasket require changing?

Thank in advance.

I'd ask on one of the Facebook groups.

There's a few of them, I'm oblivious to politics as to why, but I suspect you'll get good answers in either.

Hi.
Really simple:
-undo the sump bolt and drain the oil
-undo the apollo tank bolt and drain the oil
-undo the oil filter
-put a little bit of fresh oil on the new oil filtet gasket
-fit the new oil filter
-put new oil starting with 5/6lt
-start the car, drive and reach a good engine temperature.
-stop the car and test the oil level while the car still running.
-add the quantity still needed (obviously switch off the engine while you are putting the oil!)

P.s. You don't have to change sump gasket until you have a leak.
Good to take out the sump sometimes to see the condition of the foam inside (if you still have one...)

As above, but I would add that once the tank is empty it takes quite a lot of engine revolutions to charge the tank and build oil pressure, during this time the bearings are not receiving any oil, if it were me I would remove the plugs, disconnect the fuel rail electrically and crank until there is oil pressure on the gauge. Then proceed as above.

And what if the car has an accusump on top of that. The previous owner mentioned about 8litres in total but I'm a bit unsure of the procedure.

@Dave, it was M Moles' car that I just purchased and I believe you have been in touch with him during the rebuild.

Thanks
