Chimaera grill or not

Hi, I’m new “again” to TVR life and not at all mechanically minded (wrong choice of car I hear you say)
Anyway I have a 1999 Mk2 model and I am looking at making a couple of grills for the front to protect the radiator.
I know that I have to be careful not to restrict airflow for cooling purposes, but my question is, is there anything that is normally or (even worse) only accessed via these holes?
If there is I will make sure that whatever I come up with is easily removable.

I think that's how you access headlight bulbs on early cars?

There is the air filter in there, but I suppose you'd only need to access that once a year or so for a clean and re-oil.

I had briefly thought about looking into whether any grills existed for the Mk2 models (I have a '98) but got distracted with other little projects.

Just place a stainless mesh in front of the radiator & use the bolt holes on top of the radiator to secure. I edged mine in rubber for a clean finish.
Nothing else is affected. Just take out & clean once a year, this does protect the radiator & air flow is not restricted.
Move your number down for even greater air flow.

Sounds like a great idea, except mine is 1999 and so has the two openings not the one, unless you know anyone that does two 3D printed grill for a Mk 2 Chimaera?

I think that one that sits on the rad looks a good idea, be nice if it slotted in something at the bottom to hold it firm.

It does. Theres a raised lip running the full length in front of the radiator. The mesh sits between the radiator & the lip.
The mesh sits on the floor of the body. When you look through the grill the bottom edge of the mesh is behind the lip & cant be seen.
This holds the mesh in place. The top brackets are just to stop it flapping about. No need to remove to access any thing. It becomes part of the radiator.
