New prices....

So presumably when the new 74 plate arrives in a week all the currently new registered stock Alpine dealers are sitting on will get devalued a little if they want to shift stock?

Or am I being optimistic as there are several I am interested in buying....but not at current over inflated prices! Is it naive to expect them to start to have to devalue or will they just sit on it as long as possible before offering better deals?

There's a new base model with no options at Cardiff Alpine for £4,000 off the normal price.

I guess they are trying to shift current stock with the 0% offer. I was almost tempted but I went for a well optioned '23 instead.

Plus I didn't fancy any of the new cars in stock and I didn't want to wait 4 months or more for a factory order.

Its all a cat & mouse game really sure the dealers read these forums also! I can get one new tomorrow have my hefty deposit know my finance is good for £60-70K as previously bought & fully paid back my current (never ever selling!!) RS Megane with RCI well within the PCP time frame!

There is another new one £7K off new price just over £50K but come end of this month its no longer latest plate its a 24 instead of 74...just hanging on a bit longer to see what if any difference it makes as suddenly they are sitting on a good 30-40 x 24 plates ready to sell gathering dust on the forecourts but 74 is the new plate therefore logically to shift they should be discounting the 24 plates at least 5-10% I hope soon!!

I think that the logic here might apply on white goods cars, but on specialist cars like the Alpine it’s more about condition mileage and spec than a notional number plate, especially as most end up on private plates anyway.
I can’t therefore see the new reg making much of an impact unless you find a dealer with 2 near identical cars one on a 24 and one on a 74.
The other consideration is that the larger discounts are on pre-reg cars, not stock unregistered. Usually you have to wait 3 months between registration and selling the car on or there are financial penalties for the dealers.

Lets see I mean right now they are about 74 new unsold on 24 plate according to Autotrader! In a week they are not latest reg plate anymore are they...I guess it all depends on how long dealers want to hang onto old stock also....with Lotus Emira a few held on way too long...those cars lost £18K overall & are still unsold as they refuse to budge on the stubborn pricing (I know some of it they have no choice due to financial penalties but cars which sit around for a while eventually start to develop faults due to no regular use...). Supply & Demand plays a big factor also...you could argue if you include 23 reg Alpines 95 for sale right now for immediate delivery that number has not changed much for a while now....!
