Hi all,

Looking for a new to me car and considering a mk. 7.5 Golf. It's a 2.0tdi with DSG.

There seems to be a bit of internet chatter about the 7-speed DSG clutches being a bit suspect, I don't know if this is true or was in the past and has now been resolved? Just wondering what clutch this specific model has fitted to inform buying decision.

All the best,

Joe

The same DQ381 gearbox and clutch packs as the GTI, just with a taller final drive and or gear set.

Nothing wrong with the clutch packs at all. Is the internet noise coming from highly modified car owners by any chance?

Most of the noise refers to the 7 speed DQ200 box. It’s fairly pants. This was generally fitted to the smaller engined stuff in the VAG range, due to its low torque capabilities. It is also a dry clutch system, sealed for life from VAG ( yeah right). Find out which box it has.
