Hi All,

Thanks in advance for the help. I recently purchased a 2019 Aston Martin Rapide AMR. It's been great, however today I went to go fuel it, only to find that the fuel door is not releasing when pressing the button.

I'm trying to find the emergency release latch, but can't. The owner's guide says to remove a panel in the trunk. The panel isn't easy to remove, and the little that I did pry off does not show any release latch.

Any ideas on where I can find this so that I can fuel up the car?

Thanks!

I had a similar issue on my V8, the solution I came up with was to wedge a credit card into the door just to give a little upward pressure and then pressing the release button. HTH!

Concur on credit card trick, you will need a friendly person to press the button in the car. It’s an official feature a good garage will adjust each year to minimise.

There is a video on Red Pants site that shows you how to align the cap again

After I did that mine has been fine ever since

Had exactly same issue on mine, first I had some luck by pushing the fuel cap down then going back to the button and it would release.

The emergency pull is in the boot left hand side it opens just like the DVD changer side give it a tug it's at the top in there. This is also where your tyre kit is.

To perm fix the issue I opened the flap lossend the flap retaining screw and pushed the flap towards the front so to speak and tightened it, not had the issue since.

Will take a picture later when I'm in the garage

haha - that brings back memories. I used to do this, many times in the past with my vantage. It's so embarrassing when people come over to admire the car and there you are jamming your credit card in the fuel filler door slot.

Happened on my Rapide as well. Super annoying. Main Dealer charged me £127 to fix (not covered by warranty)

As an Aston Martin driver, you always need to carry your creditcard cool

I can't find this latch. I'll send pics when if what I'm seeing.

Any idea where to insert the credit card? Like if the door is a clock face, where am I applying pressure?

Assuming the Rapide emergency release is in the same place as the Vantages it’s the flap fairly high up in the boot which just opens and then the latch is a bit of plastic with metal - obviously on the same side as the fuel flap itself.
Then insert the credit card in the fuel flap where it would normally open whilst pulling / jiggling the emergency release assuming you have found it.
It is of course possible said latch has come away and not been replaced.
However the credit card trick should still work.
The real trick is to look nonchalant as you do this.

I'm terribly sorry, the starter motor pinion has just disintegrated into the bell housing so a lane of your petrol station is out of action until I'm towed away. Mr Bean would say boff

Hope this helps

And here are the three bolts/screws to loosen and push the flap toward the front of the car then tighten.

Apologies couldn't send these earlier the fuel release is tucked at a top and it is just about big enough to get a finger in there and I think u push toward the front of the car and it does not take much effort

No not sand, it's dry compound residue and prob some dirt. Been getting the paint ready for winter, I had the fuel flap masked up but to get onto fuel flap door had to take the tape off as even small 3inch pad was too big. Long story short jus need to get a cloth/vacuum cleaner in there.

Glad to hear that. Now all you have to do is work out why it wouldn't open, then fix it so it doesn't happen again
