Hi all. I have done another video on the fuel sender for anyone who would like to see it.
Here.

From my experience we have a very short attention span!
Talking about your front door isn’t going to assist in the average owners experience of owning a TVR so if you want to get more views get straight to the point of your video Fella.
I must say the opening caption of the car being drifted sideways by a very talented driver was exciting and rather impressive.
Does anyone know who that was and who’s car it is so I can avoid buying it as the bushes must be well fked thumbup

Ouch. Harsh audience here.

I had a similar experience on my first fill up after collecting my Chimaera.
Pump clicked off and I assumed it was full.
Only half a tank in reality.
What I have found is that I have to find the best angle and not pull fully on the pump trigger.
Takes a bit longer to fill and with experience I know roughly how much it should take to fill it up.
So far, gauge works fine.
Only on one occasion has it poured out the filler. Caught me by surprise as I wasn’t watching.
Poured quite a bit onto the ground!
Fortunately, no big bang when I started it up to drive away.

Re the speakers, I think they are not original. As far as I know it’s vents that were originally there.

Hi BritishTvr450. The bushes have all been changed. I will not be selling the car anyway.

Steve.

So that’s actually your car there being drifted.
Fair play as it obviously goes well and in very good condition.

Those speakers are definitely after market as you can tell by the poorly cut holes and usually those holes contain air vents to help de pressurise the cab.

There’s a very good point being made above regards filling the tank. I find you have to turn the fuel filler almost 90 degrees so almost upside down to fill the tank successfully and reduce the pumping pressure slightly or it will spew out allover the place or simply click off as if full.
Hope that helps.
I appreciate what your doing with your videos and don’t wish to sound disingenuous but do the job first so you understand what your doing then make the video as I was watching thinking ( just remove the top section ) which as you finally worked out is how you easily and very quickly can get at fuel sender. The speakers or your stereo have very little to do with any part of that job.

If I wanted to get people to enjoy and respond kindly to videos regarding our very personal cars I’d firstly understand the job entirely then keep strictly to the point and try not to wander into other territory as I was interested in the video tittle not your stereo or your front door woes.
That would make them precise and indeed useful to others, good luck and enjoy your car.
To quickly add, my cars fuel gauge has always read slightly high and is empty just above the empty line and full just above the full line which is a bit of a give away.
It’s often been said in the past it’s also not a good idea to run it down much past 1/4 full as a bit of spirited driving will empty it in no time.
I’ve never ran out using that method but I digress thumbup

Hi British Tvr450. Yes i fully understand your comments. But if you saw any of my other video's , they follow the same kind of format. The comments about my front door was me apologising to my regular viewers as to why I had not posted for a while.
The whole idea of doing the work the way i do is to show that I am no genius, just another diy guy finding out the hard way.
Yes I could have done a video just showing the sender being taken out etc. Probably could have got it down to less than 5 mins.
Thanks for your constructive idea's.
Also thanks for letting me know about the air locks. Now i know to fill up carefully as your instructions.
Steve.-

Whilst the video is ponderous, it is handy to see what you have done.

I found your wheel tracking video quite interesting, in part because I've never seen how it's done.
My steering wheel is slightly off, but not enough for a spline in the steering column, it's track rod end adjustment that's required.

It also tells me that when I come to get the tyres replaced, I'll ask them to track the wheels and get the steering wheel aligned properly, rather than spend £85 on the kit you bought, that I'd probably only use once!

Yes I guess if you will only ever track one car it is pointless buying the tracking laser kit. We have 2 cars in the household & a Vivaro van , that i am sure needs tracking checking.

Original video where the car was drifted

Good old Tiff Needell!

Not really a pile of tech videos on Youtube for the Chimaera or TVR in general which means highly unlikely to get Matt Armstrong viewing numbers. I did find snorkymedia and Tools n Track useful for a few bits. Fair play to the OP for being arsed to even film and upload

Agreed.
It is helpful to see videos and photos of what's going on with these tasks.
I have also done a couple of threads on here, but not videos mainly because I end up doing stuff over a few days and to that point, it's a lot to be arsed to make a video.
