Any ideas for "repairing" my armrest?

Hi all,

My car is 15 years old, and has done a few miles. One small but annoying problem I have with it is that the padding on the door card armrest has "collapsed"... it's leather clad, but the foam underneath has completely given up the ghost. As a result, my forearm/elbow now rest on an uncomfortable bit of plastic trim under the leather.

Any ideas on how I might be able to make it comfortable again?

I was thinking maybe it could be possible to inject some silicone through the stitching or something... Any ideas?

Remove it, remove the leather likely just stapled on, new foam and reassy. Any other way likely to be a hideous bodge.

I'd tend to agree... anything else would be a bodge job at best.

OK, I will see if I can get it off without ruining it

If all else fails, it looks like there are some replacements on ebay that can be stuck on. It's only an old Subaru, so it doesnt need to be a work of art!

Any decent upholsterer should be able to sort it out, if you are anywhere close to Cheshire i can recommend a fab company called Leather Tech

Ask around your biker friends. Saddles on good bikes are prone to jealous vandals and there are a few usually ‘ mature’ craftsmen around who can repair these. Sadly one I visited has retired ,but then, he did drive a Morris Oxford MO. ( looking good with red leather interior, for the record!)
