I have a MY2017 F-Pace 2.0D AWD. My two cents is JLR make terrible cars these days. Build quality is awful and they have over cost-optimised where ever possible to the detriment of the Marque. Just look at all the class action law suits against JLR, one for emissions (but most marquee have that one) then another for DPF (poor design leading to additional running and maintenance costs). Very surprised there isn’t one for turbo failures yet.
I also saw you’re looking at 2.0D, I’d strongly suggest you check out posts from people who’s turbos have failed after 55-60k miles leading to catastrophic engine failure, it’s far more common than it should be. JLR have also recently stopped covering the costs for these repairs as much as they did. FYI mine suffered this issue in 2022, i was one of the lucky ones who had it repaired fully at JLR’s cost even though it was out of warranty. I was brand new turbo, engine and DPF.
All that being said it’s a great car to drive (for an SUV), it has a good turning circle, it was responsive from lights and is very comfortable. I test drove, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus. The BMW were the worst of the lot, terrible turning circle on both the X5 and X3 and the 3.5TDI X5 had a huge power lag from lights like 1-2 seconds.
If you take finance or are leasing, then the turbo failure is less of an issue as you have more recourse through them.
