Time for a new daily.
I never thought I would actually get into Jags, unless it's because I'm starting to get old, but the amount of car you get for your money on a used purchase is great. I part ex-changed my old X-Type V6 for this XFS. It worked absolutely fine and that V6 sounded great with a chavy filter but I never got on with it.
I've been after something for a while that would be comfy, would last me a long time and would tow my old track car:
It's a 2011 pre-facelift Premium Luxury with the 275bhp 3 litre V6 diesel. It's passed 100,000 miles but the service history is insane. I've always gone for low mileage cars, I part exchanged the X-Type with 50,000 on the clock, but now I feel it's such a false economy buying low mileage. The previous owner spent a silly amount, very recently it's had 4 new Pirelli's on refurbished wheels, timing belt done, all fluids changed including the gearbox, professionally under-sealed and loads of other bits.

A remap is seriously tempting in the near future.

Ive also had an XF S, was a fantastic cruiser.
Not sure how they pulled it off but despite the huge wheels it was very soft over bumps.
The 275bp and related torque was fantastic, I initially planned a remap but never bothered as it never felt under powered.
Things to look out for:
The DPF clogs up quick if you do too many short journeys.
The DPF clogs up even quicker if the manifold cracks (its made of plastic).
Odd electrical hiccups.
Not sure how they pulled it off but despite the huge wheels it was very soft over bumps.
The 275bp and related torque was fantastic, I initially planned a remap but never bothered as it never felt under powered.
Things to look out for:
The DPF clogs up quick if you do too many short journeys.
The DPF clogs up even quicker if the manifold cracks (its made of plastic).
Odd electrical hiccups.
I do like these, and that's in a really good colour as well. They always seem to be black or some shade of silver/grey.
I remember my boss at the time turning up at work in 2010 in his brand new one (black, of course). He took me out for a spin, and I was blown away by the ride quality, smoothness, noise levels and the sheer punch of the thing. Cool interior as well.
These are very tempting at current prices.

As someone local-ish to Newport I am impressed how your photos make it look nowhere near as big a s

If, because you're weird like me, you'd like to have the latest version of the maps on the crap built in nav PM me and I'll pop a disc in the post for you.
It's reasonably common for the big hose thing with all the coolant pipes at the front of the engine, and it's easy enough to change that if I had another 3.0d I'd probably do it preemptively.
That's what they do.

Completely agree, the ride is fantastic. I’ve had a look around and the best remap seems to be by Celtic, but people still have problems, so I’ll take your advice and leave it - I’m very happy with it as is in fairness.Not sure how they pulled it off but despite the huge wheels it was very soft over bumps.

I believe it’s still to yet have the manifold issue. It has receipts and invoices for a lot, it’s a very thick folder but absolutely nothing on that. Is it an easy fix when that day comes?

Definitely the best riding car I’ve owned, it’s a big jump from my old X Type.
Price wise I’m absolutely amazed how much car you get -
they are absolute bargains.

It’s a car I’ve had for a long time, I’ve slowly turned it into a track car over the years. I’ve had it up for sale as I have a wedding to pay for so that would help, but I’ve literally this moment taken it down as it’ll be too hard for me to let go.I don’t see many on track.

With my partner being from Newport I’m there quite often. Funnily enough when we were in that hotel she said how amazing it looks from above, a completely different city to what’s below. Glad to see that hose is easy to replace, I’ll change that asap as it does look to be the original. I like to keep my cars running perfectly so things get changed well before they need doing.

Manifolds don't look too bad to DIY, nothing ever really is on the top of the engine, just time consuming and the parts are a few hundred quid. You'll know if it goes, it's not subtle, and it might never happen!

There’s a few I’ve regretted, where I just wanted something newer.
I’ve been very much enjoying this car. So far I’ve encountered only one problem, the handbrake needing to be re-calibrated, but that was such an easy fix.
Having a look underneath it has already had a tow bar fitted, to my surprise. The end part did not come with the car so a quick look on the witter site came up trumps. So now she’s ready to tow the track car about and take the bikes out - not until the winter ends.
Had an amazing holiday to Torquay with my partner, got to the other end feeling very fresh. Loads of fuel too after almost 300 miles:
It did a total of 800 miles in 4 days, around 350 miles coming back up as we nipped into Wales to see my partners family and it didn’t miss a single beat.
Same spot 5 years later:
