So that’s a no then….
Still amazes me how everyone can say how bad it will be, yet there has been no official reviews yet..
I bet it’s quicker across the board than the F90….
It will not be quicker across the board and will eat tyres due to excess weight.Still amazes me how everyone can say how bad it will be, yet there has been no official reviews yet..

My ultimate is derestricted from factory, it may be it's a bit quicker, it dinoed 651BHP out of the box.for the record I have had an f10 and an F90….
PS) I should have mentioned I had a passenger ride it the new M5 in KL, it felt slow apart from the first 20 yards.
No chance of beating the F90 comp.

Getting quite tired of the weight comments. Is it heavy, yes - but fk me can we move on.
Will its weight hinder performance, yes. But will the typical driver on the typical road have any idea the weight has gone up if they weren’t told?
Truth be told the hybrid drivetrain, advances in tech, tyre sizes etc will make this car feel like a monster in all but very extreme circumstances.
As for the out and out performance - this is where numbers muddy the water somewhat compared to real world.
Back when the P1 was released McLaren raved (and everybody were amazed) about torque fill and how the electric motor filled the laggy gaps etc. This is exactly what hybrids do on a daily basis now…
I currently daily a X5 50e, with an almost identical drivetrain (apart from the engine being the 3.0i6).
Anytime I get back into a purely ice car, they feel sluggish off the mark and on and off throttle. This M5, regardless of how it performs will feel sharp and just as quick if not quicker than prev generations in most scenarios.
Also, I think BMW have addressed some of the key issues of the previous car. Everybody refers to the CS when they think M5, but the base spec car was IMO dull as dishwasher compared to the E63 of the time and looked incredibly plain. It also sounded terrible…
The new one whilst not pretty, is big and bold and so far appears to sound better than previous gen…
It’s very likely I’ll be getting one. But not because I’m completely in love with the car - but for the simple fact the reasonably good hybrid nature of the car means I can stick it through the business…
P.s last year did 20k miles in an E63s and 3k in an M5 Comp. Whilst extremely fast (marginally quicker than the Merc) I was happy to give the M5 back… most boring M car I’ve driven.

Err yes...thats physics for you.Assumes the driver has most of his senses intact.
Having a hybrid M5 is fairly pointless.
What mpg benefits will likely be mostly offset by lugging round the extra weight.

It’s not about the mpg, it’s about the BIK. Opens the m5 up to a new, big market being so cheap to have through a business.Assumes the driver has most of his senses intact.

F90 is a bland design now, the blue ultimate above looks a bit older in the tooth each time it is posted. Looked great a few years ago but nothing stand out anymore, and wouldn’t expect a 5 series design to be when its over 6 years old.The standard comp cars wont be a classic and most people will move on to the new cars, be it M5, E63S etc It was ever thus.
I think it will sell more than the f90 but to a different market.

You have it so wrong re the F90; mine was insanity in any gear and easily the best sounding car I've owned. Also if you think plus 500kg won't be noticed Will its weight hinder performance, yes. But will the typical driver on the typical road have any idea the weight has gone up if they weren’t told?
