I’m looking to design and build my own bespoke air conditioning system for a Chimaera. I would like to utilise the TVR (Range Rover P38) compressor. Does anyone have the Land Rover part number?

Many thanks, Andrew

Whilst you have Spacemans attention ask him for a photo of the serpentine belt route and the size of the belt.

The belt tensioner is different for the air conditioning. I brought this one when I fitted air conditioning to mine.

Thanks, I didn't realise this part was different too. You don't happen to know the Landrover/Dayco part number do you?
I suspect it is ERR3440, which is about half the price of the same part on Racetech Direct.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew, sorry I can't find my receipt for that item but this might be useful. These are the adaptors I used to connect the hoses to the compressor.

Thanks Trev.

I'm in two minds whether to use the TVR compressor with the associated parts, or to create a modern alternative using improved parts.

The evaporator will certainly be modern!

If it were me I'd utilise all of the original under bonnet stuff and then fit a universal kit inside the car. I've relocated my battery which gives you loads of room in the foot well, you could pull the heater core out of the wing and probably plumb in an entire unit using all of the original pipes, ducts and stuff with a bit of thinking.

My plan is to gut the inside of the dash and relocate as much as possible, so that I can fit the largest possible heater and AC unit in there.

Andrew.

Be sure to stick pictures of what you do up in here thumbup

I replaced my fan unit in the passenger footwell a couple of years ago and it took me a couple of days and over £100 worth of crap just for the same asthmatic rubbish, was wishing that I had just bit the bullet and changed it all once I'd finished
