Triumph TR6 Pedal Bushes -- do they disappear ?

Continuing my string of work under the dash, have now removed the pedal box to replace the pedal bushes. Quite straightforward up until I actually removed the existing shaft and pedals and discovered I can't really see any bush remains to speak of in the pedal tubes. There is a little furry grey deposit at a couple of the ends, as though perhaps a white metal bush has simply corroded away, but putting my little finger down into the pedal tubes, I really can't detect any step that might indicate the end of an existing bush.

Does anyone have the bore dimension for a bare pedal, please ?
