Seems a decent price? Or is this about the going rate?

What do I need to be looking out for?

MOT history seems OK, some corrosion a few years ago but nothing since .

Seems to have been sold!

Yes, it was a bargain. The conversion is £6k now.

Used value of the kit, I'd guess £3k.

Add in the value of the seats, the wheels and other bits and bobs, there is probably £3k worth of parts to break on it on top of that.

Looky here... Dealer has purchased it and lobbed £7k on to the original £5k asking price.

Seller clearly didn't have a clue what he was selling.

It is a strange one. You would assume that the previous owner, who would have paid a premium for a BBR car would be aware that the car should command a higher price.

You would also think that someone who owns a 280bhp MX5 would be on some sort of owners group and would have had a bit more insight in to what they had.

Even if it was passed down from a deceased family member, you would have some sort of idea that it is a bit different and special and spend a few minutes on the internet to work out it is worth more than a bog standard car. Unless you were really thick.

Who knows the story though, there could be any number of reasons.

The dealer chucking £7k on top is cheeky...but...fair play, that is business.
