I know this is an age old question, but has anyone tried a Range Rover Classic speedo cable on a late 350i? The ends look identical to my existing cable in the photos I have seen.

Description:
Land Rover
Speedometer cable RHD
Range Rover Classic 1970 to 1985
Part No 579165

Not sure about length. Range Rover cable is 375mm.

Just saw in older posts that a Unipart GSD380 will fit but it is a push on end at the speedo and mine is screwed on. It looks like it might grip onto the threads though??

375mm?! Wouldn't be much use on a wedge, it needs to be about 5 feet long.
I bought a LR one a good few years ago, I think it was long enough but the speedo end thread was a mile out.

I just sent mine to Speedy cables to copy, they produced a 2-part cable so I could install the pulse generator for the cruise control; even then it wasn't expensive as I recall (under £30, let's say). A single cable would be cheaper.

I think the thread on the VDO speedo is metric whereas the Landie one was some imperial size.. in fact here you go:

Of course if any of the other brand instruments fitted to the wedge over the years have the same thread, it may well fit.

Ha ha! Yes good point! 375mm is the width of the box it comes in!! My mistake!!

As I can get one for a tenner and it certainly looks identical to mine, I may just buy one and see. At least then we will know!!
