Police said a knife had been seized and that a man had been detained but urged the public to avoid the area near Hart Street.

Edit seems to be an incident limited to the area near Meols Cop station which is quite a way from the sea front.
Will have been incredibly busy on the front today, lovely weather and second week of the school holidays.
Hopefully its nothing too serious as there will have been lots of kids and old people around.

If the perpetrator was "known to authorities" or has mental health issues and a danger to society, there need to be some serious questions about why we are letting dangerous people out in the community. Conjecture I know.s1962a said:
