Hi All,

Anyone here live near or around woking ? whats it like? We are looking for a nice leafy surrey town/village that is commutable to London and Richmond, preferably as Chav free as possible, which I know is difficult these days ;)

Are there any areas in Woking to avoid like the plague?

Cheers

Michael

Chobham is very nice.

I have lived in Woking for 5 years..

Hookheath is the nicest part,

Avoid Maybury and Sheerwater.

If you want, I can show you the nice parts.

Yes, but Woking is devoid of Chelsea footballers

Grew up in Woking and can confirm it's foul.

For some reason I think its one of the most souless places I've ever been to - can't put my finger on why but it just makes my skin crawl...

Cobham, Esher, Weybridge, Stoke D'Abernon are all much much nicer and almost as good for commuting.

If you head out further down the Waterloo-Woking rail line you come to Fleet and Basingstoke. These are cheaper than Woking by a good margin. Chav free? 'fraid not. But the nice parts can be pretty good.

Getting to Richmond would be more of a git from further out, though...

Ok, so Woking town centre is a bit dull..

Oh, and avoid Goldsworth PArk like the plauge.

One of the villages round woking is best.

Chobham is the nicest.

why have one place called cobham, and one called chobham, both within 5 miles of each other, is it just to confuse me?

No, Woking players.. but they don't drive around in Hideous Bentley GT's. More like Ford Escorts.

No, I realised at an early age that it was actually to confuse me

Michael, feel free to PM me for more info on the area. I have lived in Woking all my (non-university life). All that has been said above is true.

Well, the 612's can't belong to footballers. That would indicate that they have some taste.

Why?

Having lived in both Knaphill and Goldsworth Park, I know which I prefer.

We've got a nice lake to walk around and a Waitrose within walking distance.
