So after much thought and panic I’ve finally committed and purchased a 2016 F10 M5 Competition. It’s low mileage with 38k and came with the remainder of BMW extended warranty which I will extend. Just getting used to it but what a lovely engine. I know some think it’s a bit dull but personally I am loving the V8 character. Booked in for 4 wheel alignment and balancing tomorrow to make sure it’s all straight and true and I plan to keep this car a long long time 😎

I like the colour, mine is in Monte Carlo blue, similar age and mileage.

A few tips from my experience after 4 years.

Michelin PS4S seem to be the best tyres.

Avoid large puddles. BMW built the car with holes for left and right hand steering and there’s a bung blocking the unused side that can fail. Cue doors full of water and wet carpets in the rear footwell.

Evolve Automotive do a Mr12volt Apple CarPlay and Android Auto module that works really well.

Lastly, enjoy and try to keep your licence. smile

Mega choice. Well done and enjoy the car. I’d recommend some drives into Europe to really stretch its legs. Such potent cruisers

Could you share some headlines on warranty costs? Assume it is the usual annual or monthly BMW option that goes up after 60k and reduces slightly once you have completed a full year?

I know these aren't (apparently) as good as the f90, and I know the engines can grenade at a moments notice (apparently), but I'd have one in this colour but with red interior over an f90 any day. The interior colours on the f90 seem limited, no red options afaik. The F10 shape looks great from most angles I think, very classy but aggressive too.

Hope it treats you well OP. Off to scour AT for the millionth time....

It’s paid up to November but I believe on a monthly basis £138 a month for my car. I’m guessing age and mileage affect the cost

I had a Silverstone blue M4 and loved it. Always wanted a Silverstone E60 M5 with the Silverstone interior but the 2008 recession killed that idea and as soon as I saw this car with the colour combo, low miles and BMW warranty I knew I had to have it!

In a year or so will probably replace the injectors and possibly the rod bearings to try and prevent disaster….

Looking forward to a few road trips to Le Mans over the next few years 😎

You can reduce that cost down quite a bit if you take an excess on the warranty.

I've got the comprehensive warranty with the emergency service cover on my car with a £250 excess and it's about £87 per month. Car's on 55k miles now, definitely worth going to the monthly payment before it goes over 60,000 miles.

I suppose everyone's got their own thoughts on preventative maintenance, but there's no way I'd be spending the money it would cost to do all that if I was also paying to have the car covered by the BMW extended warranty.

Each to their own I suppose, no right or wrong answer to it.

My M5C was far from dull, the maddest car I've owned by a country mile!

Looks great.

I’m 5 years into having mine (32k to 64k miles) and still love it. I was looking to replace it but without substantial outlay I couldn’t find anything.

Nice OP, enjoy!

I think Silverstone Blue has changed a little since the E60 days, and the E39 days before it. I have a Silverstone Blue E60 with the Silverstone leather, and it's a nice combination.

Re the engine being dull, as a power house it is not dull, it just makes a truly boring sound, especially when you compare it to its contemporaries - The Audi RS6 and the Mercedes E63 BiTurbo.

The F90 is a long way better than the F10, whatever the colour!

It’s fantastic! Down in Cornwall this week and it cruised down very comfortably and on the twisty roads down here it’s great fun. Think I scared the father in law yesterday!
