Video doing the rounds of GMP firearms officers after they've been attacked with one of the officers kicking and then stamping on a suspects head whilst they're on the ground.

Wonder what way this will go as only one small clip has been shared.

According to reports the police were set upon and obviously being fire arms officers this isn't great.

I think that office was just getting a bit of revenge for his colleagues

Unfortunately you just cannot do that. Easy for me to say as I'm completely removed from the situation, but surely officers are aware of how these things can go. Stamping on someone's head? FFS

You have to protect the firearm as well.

Don’t dissent in airports, they go in heavy.

I’m sure the bloke on the floor was a complete ahole, but I can’t see that officer being able to defend his actions there.

4 males arrested

3 Police officers hospitalised, a female officer with a broken nose

GMP statement says there was a risk of firearms being taken from officers (presumably incapacitated)

Clearly a serious and concerning incident

As in every case it is for the individual officer to justify their use of force as lawful, and whilst stamping and kicking never looks good it MAY be justifiable in the circumstances

Time will tell

Attacking armed police at an airport... what could possibly go wrong?

I think that's going to be a tough one to justify. The guy looks like he has Taser barbs attached too (which may explain his positioning).

I think the vast amount of the public are fine with the police dealing out some punishment if it's shown the criminal has been violent towards them.

It's when they deal out punishment to people who have done nothing wrong or not been violence themselves, people have a problem with it.

Yes, a clear risk of the firearms being taken whilst one man is being tasered on the floor with his hands behind his back and the other sat on the chair with his hands on his head.

The GMP statement reads like 3 of the officers were dealing with the initial altercation and then head kicker and others were called in as backup.

Never justifiable and I suspect someone will be getting the sack and someone will be getting a payout. Even if he is a vile who assaulted another officer.

Indeed. Regardless of how unpleasant the kicking is, it's preferable to being shot I'd have thought.

If I were GMP I'd be preparing for some fallout over this on the streets somewhere...

Kick in the head is one thing - the stomp is another.

That's the first day of firearms training, the old kick stomp 1-2 routine. Works a treat

Yikes.

Are all the firearms officers going to hand in their weapons if he gets any sort of disciplinary action taken against him?

I'd like to see the build up rather than where the video clip starts but honestly how fking stupid would you have to be to have a go at armed Police and not expect it to end badly.

Ouch

Clearly a loss of control no matter how much the suspect deserved it.

Must be difficult to remain calm and dispassionate when someone attacks you and your colleagues but that clearly needs appropriate sanction. In a way I hope that is some sort of punishment and training rather than sacking but he shouldn't be carrying a gun.
