Hi All,

I am looking at a Vanquish (2017 model year). Car seems in good condition with only 25Km on the clock. As I currently drive a 5.0L XKR i would like to upgrade to a V12. PS. Love my Jag and may consider keeping it.

In order to make an informed decision, I have been looking around in forums for info around real world running costs specifically from those based in Switzerland but cannot find relevant info.

The official AM service in CH quoted me between 2 and 3k per annum for a service (depending on work needed). Are there any independent AM specialists in CH? If so does anyone know if they charge less than the official AM?

Before you start comments like if you need to ask about maintenance, you cannot afford it my question is genuine in my quest to get some insights from Swiss based enthusiasts/owners and their experience. There are a lot of info about servicing costs and maintenance costs from UK but less so outside.

Thanks in advance!!!!!
Mike

There’s an Indy in Lausanne. I’m not an AM owner, I just walk past it occasionally.

Can definitely vouch for BI Collections in St Gallen. Although the charges will be around the same as with an official AM dealer. But it is almost worth it just to look around the workshop! Amazing building with some amazing cars.

I have a 2017 Vanquish and get it serviced at the AM dealer in Safenwil simply because it is closer for me. Last service was around CHF 2k which seems to be the going rate here.

I live the other side of the world but, until I sold it a couple of months ago, I ran a 5 litre XKR alongside my 2011 Virage. Both very reliable cars but I would budget on double the cost of the XKR, unless you can find a decent specialist.

I use a main dealer for the Virage, just to keep the service history record going, but I would rather use the specialist who looked after my Jag.

I plan to do that for anything other than routine maintenance work but it hasn't needed any in the 30 months I have had it. I have driven over 18,000 kms in that time as well so it isn't a garage queen!

I bought my 2017 Vanquish S Volante from Quneo in Basle - I think they used Emil Frey AG Safenwil when they serviced it before it was delivered in 2019 with less than 5k klms on the clock.
Being based in France, I get mine serviced at AM in Cannes which usually equates to 1800-2000 Euros each time.
The car hasn't needed anything other than routine servicing work so mechanically they seem bullet proof - I have just passed 30K klms on the clock now.

Thank you so much. I heard about BI collection but never visited the one in St Gallen

Thank you All,

It seems the going rate is around 2K in CH for general maintenance and people here as well as elsewhere do not report major flaws with the car. That is reassuring :-)

I would suggest a chat with Rene Wagner in Faellenden close to Zurich. He‘s taken care of my cars for over a decade. Whilst his website may suggest it‘s the NP cars he focusses most on, he has the Gaydon era well covered too. Really nice guy.

Would you mind sharing what is his going rate for an annual service?

I can‘t recall exact numbers off the top of my head (on hols currently) but I don‘t think a regular annual service and thorough report was much into 4 figures. Certainly nowhere near 2k. Over ten years my bills have only been servicing snd preventative maintenance if that. He will also show you around the car in as much detail as you need or want. St Gallen were like that too (or at least were), whereas Safenwil I felt they didn’t really encourage/entertain customers actually wanting to have a poke around their own car. Good luck with it all.

I bring mine, from ZH, to Milan. Close to the highway and never had any problem with them.
Stephan is a good indipendent AM in Zurich.
