I'm hoping to buy a used DB11 later this year or early next year, and would prefer silver or grey paint. I'd prefer a very metallic, liquid shade of silver. From looking at online videos and pictures, I like the look of tungsten silver and magnetic silver - is tungsten brighter and more metallic looking in person compared to magnetic? Thanks

Magnetic silver is quite dark - it really should be called magnetic gray. Tungsten is much lighter. Google the color names and you should find examples.

I think you probably need to see both in the flesh to make your decision. Looking at differences in colours online through an uncalibrated monitor probably isn't going to help you make your final choice. Good luck with the potential new purchase.

My previous Vantage was Tungsten, it looks silver on an average overcast day, but in direct sunlight really comes alive with multiple colours sparkling in the paint. Looks great when clean and easy to look after.

Repeating other comments, tungsten is an older AM paint spec. I have on my V8V and while it can look a little dull in subdued light conditions, it really does pop and sparkle in bright sunshine.

When I was looking for a DB11 my preferred colour was magnetic - it is IMHO more striking than Tungsten, while superficially darker, it comes off as more metallic and lustrous than Tungsten under most light conditions, not just under full sun. Magnetic is stunning and suits all the newer models well, though my personal favourite is Scintilla, sadly IIRC only available on the Vanquish/S

As ever, it's all subjective. You need to see them parked side by side in the shade and in sun to decide for yourself.

This colour is a heavy metallic, which changes considerably from light grey to silver in direct sunlight.
The photo does provide quite an accurate representation.
Name: Grigio Titanio - Ferrari.
Whether anyone ordered that colour on a UK DB11, I don't know.
In the UK, quite a few Vanquish 1; some DB9; some 4.3 V8; seven 4.7 V8; one V12V; a couple of V12VS.

After Aston Martin introduced Tungsten Silver though, Grigio became even rarer because of the additional cost.

If you do find a DB 11 in Grigio, it might be your ideal colour.

OP - here's a thread which might be of help. Lots of discussion about the 'proper' colour for an Aston...

Here's a pic of Tungsten in the early evening sun...

Lightening Silver is another shade to consider if you like a bit of blue in your silver. Looks normal silver in bright light but at dawn/dusk, the blue really pops out

Lightning Silver is probably a bit too light for him, here’s a pic in case it’s not.

Further to my earlier post.
Yes, Google is of help.

There is at least one UK Grigio Titanio DB11.
Perhaps it was a dealer stock order.

OP, these are all Tungsten, and they show its variance. It is a bit of a chameleon as it does seem to readily take on the shades and luminance around it. It is generally a mid-silver, but can become a light silver, a darker silver or a dull silver depending on conditions.

Did the DB11 ever come in Mercury Silver? I think it may be very similar to Magnetic...

My V8 is Mercury, wasn't too sure about it at first but love it now. It's almost got a hint of olive green in it, and can look deep grey, very light browny/greeny grey in some light, almost matte in others, and sometimes even very slightly pearlescent.

One of the launch colours I believe, the other being that bright yellow, for the V8, and the colour of the cars in the marketing and even the owners manual I think!

I've never seen another in Mercury in person, so think it's quite rare.

There is Silver Fox.

Silver Fox is more on the lines of a pearl than a metalic.

I can tell you my 6 month old Vantage’s Magnetic Silver paint was a $5,500 option. I had a Xenon Grey coupe prior to the roadster. I find the
roadster color more subtle and interesting in the sun.

Well that certainly shows just how difficult it is to convey what these metallics actually look like in a photo!

Depending on which image you are looking at, that beautiful Vantage could be judged to be practically any of the different silver variants listed above. chameleon indeed smile

Mine is Meteorite and cannot fathom how different others cars look sometimes yet claim to be the same colour as mine.
