Cerbera speed six alternator
Discussion
Hi all.
After a lot of work, today I putted the car on the road.
It was a full of sensations experience.
Some good, some terrific......and some that let me understand that there are some works to do...
Anyway.....seems that my alternator is gone.
I found the Land Rover code of the one for the AJP version.
Do you know if the speed six Cerbera fit the same or not?
If the latter, do you know codes for a commercial spare?
Thanks

Looking on some TVR parts sellers, the alternator seems to be the same for all models with different pulley for each models.
Before I'll buy a new alternator, I'll explain what my car does in this moment:
The car won't start cause the battery is dead.
If you charge it with a recharger seems to take the recharge and the car starts.
The battery light is on and tunh off as soon as you blip (a lot) the throttle.
BUT, yesterday, In the night, I noticed for the first time that the light never turn off at idle but It always remains lit so dimly that it cannot be seen in daylight.
If I drive, after few miles, the car can turn off if the alternator work less and the battery is flat again.
Everything point me on the alternator but, the strange thing is that my tester says that it's works well at idle.
What do you think about?

The V8s have a 100amp blade fuse in line with the alternator output. If this fuse blows, you get the same symptoms as a failed alternator. Or if the fuse is damaged/has a poor connection, you could get the behaviour you describe, particularly when things warm up and the resistance increases.
Presumably the s6 has the same arrangement(?) Follow the power line running from the alternator and see if you can locate the fuse. There has been some debate as to whether this fuse is even needed - some people just remove it, others replace the blade with a more robust cartridge type. Worth a look before buying a new alternator, especially if it appears to be working.
Edit: Google for Cerbera big fuse
