M3 GTR required for sound recording
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking to source a GTR (or equivalent), to take to a recording session for possible inclusion into a street racing game I'm working on. Preferable in Scotland, but can travel.
Please email me direct on mark.knight@vissci.com rather than IMing me. Any other questions, again please mail me or post here....
Thanks,
Mark.

Well, I know it's so so unlikely....
There were a few production cars sold I believe, so I'm just chancing it. Otherwise I will get in touch with the BTCC. Roadgoing would be a better choice though...

Good luck finding the car! If you do I want a ride
If you want to sample off a DVD then the BMW video "BMW M3 GTR Nurburgring Nordschliefe Inboard" has unmolested recording of an entire Nordschliefe lap .. and very good it sounds too
Or maybe this one?

The v8 4L engine in the M3 GTR (which I think have now been retired from racing following winning the 2005 Nurburgring 24H) is a proper race engine not a road engine with a loud exhaust.
Some videos below, though I haven't watched them

It´s not only a racing engine in a high state of tune. For your sound purposes the important thing to know is that it´s a flat plane crankshaft V8, not a cross plane V8 (as per E39 M5 and others). The most similar sound i can think of would be a Ferrari 360 CS. BTW, the engine block is a de-stroked and very modified V8 from the road versions. That sound is something you cannot replicate with de-cats and mufflers, simply the firing is not the same.
