Selling in the mags??

Sadly my P&J, first car, 1040 fully kitted out mini must go. I have some debts that need paying and due to the imminent arrival of a project car I cannot turn down somthing must give and sadly it is the mini. I will still have my Coooper S so not completely miniless.
Anyhow is it worth putting the car in magazines such as Miniworld etc. Or should I stick to autotrader and PH?

It's always a case of finding someone who wants it at the time you are selling.
The "experts" recommend the specialist mags but most of those readers already have what you are selling, (although in this case maybe they want to upgrade)
Putting it in Autotrader attracts the tyre kickers and those who just want a day out.
I seem to remember that you are Newcastle based(?) and in that case TopMarques reaches an audience too far away for you (if that makes sense).
This is speaking as someone who over the years has tried to sell Lotus's/Caterham/BMW's/Clan/TVR etc etc through various methods including owners clubs and internet things.
Sold one Lotus with an ad on the car at a hillclimb event, the other to a trader after ringing him up.
The Caterham went via Autotrader to local bloke after numerous TopMarques etc ads and dropping the price by £2500
The BMW M3 eventually was traded for the TVR after numerous attempts at getting the book value failed - even had a call from a trucker in France who was sitting in his cab reading a magazine.
The Clan went the same way as the Lotus 7, with an ad on the car, at an event.
Newcastle is a hard place to sell from - I used to say "if it's not a Nova or a Sierra they don't know what it is", best of luck, concensus of the above ramblings is I think take it to plenty of shows and competition events and stick notices on it. At least you are getting to people who are interested and they can see what it looks like. OH, AND PISTONHEADS CLASSIFIED TOO!

Nope I'm in Surrey. Well I have hit the point where I can let the car go without feeling too bad so I guess PH and I'll stick an ad in at Castle Coombe if I go next weekend. I'll probably end up replacing the gasket on the Griff though.
