We are getting married next year and have started to look at ideas for a honeymoon. It will be September Next year. For around 10 nights.

We haven’t had a holiday for a few years so don’t really know where to start with this stuff. So looking for some recommendations or tips from those who travel more.

Ideally it would be somewhere 5* and all inclusive. But with the option to go out and about in the day.

We like the look of the IKOS resorts.

Budget wise nothing massive by PH standards but still a healthy amount probably around 7k for hotel and flights.

A best man speech recently: Apparently the happy couple are going to Wales on honeymoon, the groom told me he’s going to Bangor for the whole week.

You’d be fairly limited with the getting out and about during the day at Ikos. Yes, you’ll get a Tesla for a day but most of the resorts are reasonable far from any sort of hustle and bustle. Definitely not walking distance etc!

Daios Cove is my personal favourite and where we went on honeymoon last year. All inclusive, great food, great drinks, great accommodation, great service etc.

Email me if you want some more personalised help. Sure one of my team would be able to give you a good steer on options etc.

OP: I went to Halkidiki some years ago, but not to Ikos.
I found the beaches were very good. Plenty of dolphins around when we were there.
I had to google Ikos Resorts. I saw our flag carrier tours co. uses them so I'd guess they're good to very good, since Luxair Tours are quite fussy, which is good for the consumer.

I used that line in a best man speech in Sep 2022....
I queried why they were honeymooning in Wales since the bride is BA flight crew, then ... he told me he's going to Bangor for a week

Have a look at the Coco de Mer hotel on Praslin Island in the Seychelles. My wife and I went there shortly after we got married and loved it.

10th anniversary in August 2009 we stayed at La Reserve on Praslin.
I just checked and it's under renovation until December 2024, which would suit OP's timing.
Weather was good at that time of year. Maldives, for example, can have very heavy storms August / September.
We're both scuba divers, and the local dive school on Praslin, Octopus, only had 4 of us on each boat for dives: brilliant!

We went to Tenerife, Nice hotel near Siam Park. Great food, facilities etc and then for a few days we went to the water park which was fantastic. Not a massive amount but it was fantastic.

Don’t know if you’ve sorted already, but just back from Ikos Aria late September / early October. It was excellent. Service superb, 7 a la carte restaurants, hire of a Tesla for a day included. Probably the best European hotel we’ve stayed in. It’s far enough south to still have ~28C in early October. For our day with the Tesla we went to Zia village but hiked up to the top of the mountain rather than stay with the tourists.

Again not sure if you're sorted, but worth looking at the Olympic Lagoon resorts in Cyprus. The Ayia Napa one is slightly bigger and has more choice, however the Paphos one is also excellent and about 20 minutes walk from Paphos Harbour. Loads of stuff to see and do round there, with loads of UNESCO sites and Polis is about an hours drive up the coast.

Hotels are lovely as well, both 5 Star with some lovely a la carte restaurants onsite as well - the chef who puts together the menus for the Italian and Pan Asian places has a Michelin star, and the food is excellent.

September will be perfect temperature wise as well - still around 30 degrees and the ocean will be nice and warm by then as well.

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon in 2022.

THE most amazing place we've ever been to. If you want more info on how to get there/stays on the main island, let me know.

Shirly, or even surely, all you need for a honeymoon is a big bed and room service?

hehe

You should be getting some nice destinations for that - Carribean, Mexico, possibly Cuba.

never stayed at the above suggestion, however a RIU palace is a good one and theyre the "higher tier" of RIU, optics in rooms, higher quality food and drinks etc etc.

I stayed at Azul Fives in Playa del Carmen (Mexico) and it was great - I think they have rebranded to "The Fives" but that was great.

I hope you don’t find my response rude but surely a honeymoon should be truly memorable.

Is a honeymoon in the Med that much different to a holiday?

Go out of your comfort zone, road trip Canada or the USA. Island hop in Thailand.

You only get one honeymoon (per marriage)!

Absolutely, it’s their honeymoon. He should take the bride somewhere that she hasn’t been taken before. /Sid James.
