I do think people should be more optimistic. A new Government is always energised to get things done and impress. Of course they aren't going to please everyone, but at least give them the benefit of doubt until you have some evidence otherwise.

Have the Junior Doctors now cancelled their planned strikes?

Have the new policeman arrived at the station to clock on?

Have all the new nurses arrived for their first day?

Have the boats stopped yet?

Of course I know it’s not going to happen today, but when will it happen?

6 months, 12 months or is it always going to be ‘we are trying but 14 years of Tory rule means we can’t actually do what we promised’

Then in 5 years another election and back to ‘vote for change’?

The problem with such disputes is you get what you want today from striking so you can always go back again the get what you want tomorrow. See the railways.

I normally vote Tory.
I voted Labour.

One of the 1st things I would like Labour to do is re join the customs union.

You may be disappointed.

"Keir Starmer has insisted the UK will not rejoin either the EU, the single market or the customs union within his lifetime, in his firmest pledge yet that Labour will not seek much closer relations with Europe for as long as he is prime minister."

He's a politician, so can change his mind, I hope.

It's true though. Governments never do enough and they blame the previous administration for years.

The lib dems are calling for an emergency budget. Are they doing that becaise they think there's loads of spare budget to be had and it will be a resounding success?

No. They're doing it to embarras Labour because they know damn well Labour have no more room for manoever than the Torys had.

So yes. There will be insufficient improvements and the previous administration will be blamed. Anyone who thinks otherwise can't have seen many changes in government.

They may do, but if they accept the 12% that they turned down from the Conservatives and they did accept in Wales what will the nurses who reluctantly accepted 5% last year do?
Of course, if they don't do anything we have more strikes and doctors leaving to Canada and Australia.
There are no easy answers here.

No no no, it's all Thatcher's fault.
