Scariest moment in your TVR?
Discussion
I was doing warp speeds as well, still accelerating when suddenly some
who was doing 50 in the numpty lane decided to pull out in front of me
I have never... EVER heard my girlfriend scream so loud. I managed to re-enter the earths atmosphere without locking up
Another frightening moment was watching a jap box fly right through an intersection (he was the one supposed to stop and give way) in a small residential area, at night!
He was doing 60+++ in a 30 zone, and heavy braking was required to saved us from being broadsided. Very very close call, we were so shaken we actually pulled over afterwards to compose ourselves, and talk about what just happened

Many of you may have been here. Booming up my local hill at full chat, litle old lady in husbands huge Merc miss-judges my approach speed and pulls out from side turning into my path. Full 4 wheel lock just missed curb, blue smoke and flat spots. much swearing.
On reflection entirly my fault. We can not expect saloon drivers (the majority of whom drive safely and I do not mean it to be derogatory) to be prepared for missiles(which was what I was) on the roads. True she failed to calculate my speed but the way I was driving masively shortened both our odds.
Driving a fast car fast is about odds. Do you feel lucky , punk?
I dont feel scared at 150mph ( on autobhans of course) I am only scared by slower cars with ordinary people looking out for normal threats, ie normal law abiding bods). And in all honesty the road belongs to them, not to us flash bastards.
If I had T boned her, she would be dead and i would have no legs.
I will always drive 'with elan'as they say, but God help me if I kill a joe public. Obviously this does not include sub human scooby drivers and skyliner chavs and wannabe cayene S Bmw X5 etc

CRAZY Itallian driver decided to pull out of a side road in front of me - I was doing about 60 at the time.
Nowhere near enough braking distance - I had to sverve round him onto the other side of the road. One of those incidents that happens so fast you don't have time to get angry, shake your fist etc! You just sit there for a moment afterwards, look at your passenger, and collectively scream "Woaaaah!"

had a blow out on saturday morning in the wet, lost the back end, spun, caught it, spun the other way, caught it, slammed on brakes in an effort to not die.
then whilst congratulating myself for being a virtual solberg-esque genius, and in my over-zealous keen-ness to get the car off the road completley missed noticing the lorry on the left of me, carved across his bonnet and flew up onto the verge. what a bright fellow i am.

I'd have to say my scariest moment in any of my TVRs was in one of my previous 2500Ms. I was driving down the motorway here in the States here in April when a freak snowstorm suddenly blew in. I was driving down a long grade and came to a bridge over a river when I realized the bridge had a film of ice on it. The rear of the TVR broke lose and I'm all "asses and elbows" trying to keep the TVR out of the guardrail as a large tractor trailer was bearing down on me.
As I got to the end of the bridge, the tires suddenly stuck with a jerk, creating some brief fuel starvation in the carburettors. Fortunately, I avoided both the guardrail and getting mowed down by the truck, but my legs didn't stop shaking for another 10 miles.

In the S3 following polar933 through to Cumbria on a bit of a run, came round a left hand 90 bend around 60 odd, quick blat up a straight on to a right, then saw that the whole area was in the shade and wet. Had Pirelli P6000 on, balancewd the throttle and just waited for the slide. Correct amount of opposite lock and I exited shaken but not stirred.
My scariest moment is a very long one, every time I take the car in or out of the garage, and up the lorrrrrng drive.
Unfortunately I failed to notice when moving to this house (last week) that there is approx. a 2 inch clearance each side of the car between house and fence, and the garage is offset too.

hmm, close call. Both incidents in my old S3.
1st was overtaking on a country lane, pulling alongside the car I was passing, seeing a biker round a bend ahead at 100mph and then my accelerator cable snapping...
2nd was when the electrocs under the steering column caught fire and all the lights went off at 75mph on an unlit country lane at midnight.

Shnozz said:I had a melt down under the steering column in the S. Didnt short the lights though.

I erm... accidentally on purpose decided to turn the lights off whilst rounding a bend on a country road doing a similar speed on Sunday night (twice!)
I blame bad genetics

Had a bit of a moment when a blind numpty decides to do a U turn across a dual carriageway, with me bearing down on him extremely rapidly...
...cue four-wheel lock , car sideways and lots of praying!
Mercifully, there was no traffic and I managed to slide past him in the other lane - I still don't think he even noticed I was there!

Two of note…….
Griffith 400 doing around 100 mph and just engaged the clutch to change up 4th when parts of the bell housing and flywheel decided they wanted to be in the car with me. Went straight for the brakes, only to find the flywheel had taken out brake lines. Finally came to rest courtesy of the handbrake……….
Mallory Park testing in wet conditions with a Tuscan Challenge car on slicks….. Just passed a few cars on the entry to the esses when a plume of smoke came from under the bonnet. There had been an incidence of the cars catching fire and that was my first thought. Demon manoeuvre to the inside of the track and onto the grass – only for the car to accelerate towards the Armco for the grass.
Turned out a valve head had broken off an exhaust valve and buried itself in the head, the “smoke” was steam.

Too many scary moments to list. However, a couple spring to mind - the time a couple of young scrotes in a Fiesta tried their best to force me on to the pavement (they headed quite literally for the side of my Tiv), and another time when a bloke in a Cavalier appeared from nowhere at warp speed and overtook four cars in a row with me rapidly approaching in the opposite direction. There was no escape route for me and we missed impact by millimetres. It's the first time I've experienced the most weird feeling that I wasn't going to survive - I can't put it into words.
Oh, and I had fun 'n games (not!) when the engine used to cut out (ECU problems) and when the sump plug detached itself and the cabin filled up with smoke!
