Usually some sort of Jazz stuff or if at the end of a shift and the boss isn't around then whatever the staff have in their bags I think - can be pretty varied!

For what it's worth, they are both a bag of shite. McDonalds of the coffee world. Only they are more expensive than the competition. At least McDonalds are cheap.

TBH, I think Maccy D's coffee, admittedly with 6 tubs of cream and 5 sugars, are better than that shyte that starbucks punts out.

My point was that they are to coffee what McDonalds are to food. But yeah, I agree. That filter coffee is not bad for a quid when you're at services after a festival wishing you'd slept.

you are ....but I'll play along They actually sell CD's with their music selection, if you're that interested. Generally light jazz, some of the old big band stuff and some blues, think Nina Simone, and Sinatra and you won't be far away. While you're in there, I'll have a tall skinny latte please.

Agree with jazz. They have some CD on sale just now with some old jazz gu (whose name I can't remember, but I thought he was dead) doing stuff with Sting and artists of that ilk.

They play music..? Seriously..? I had no idea... I'm normally so engaged in trying to order a sodding coffee, that non-essential information goes out the window. Actually, thinking about it... it's a case of "what do you want?" "latte please"... bang, bang... bzzzzzzzzz.... psssshhh... bang, bang... pssshhhh...wowwowwow.... gurrrrrrrrrrrh. Pssssh. "it's at the end. Next!"

Starbucks is often very busy, so Costa (fortune) or the local places (often better coffee and service) tend to appeal. There is, however, nothing like watching the world go by with a good coffee (*)

Hmmm....Starbucks. A coffee house, just like any other, that has benefited from product placement in Hollywood movies, TV sitcoms, etc...

As far as their coffee menu goes it's no different to what you get in Coffee Republic, Costa, etc... and they also tend to be pricier. It's where the "coffee conscious" go to be seen and drink. But I have to admit, their Gingerbread Latte is nectar in a cup (Xmas time only folks)

Never actually noticed music being played in Starbucks, but I can remember a Coffee Republic playing Jazz FM - very chilling
