Depends a lot on where you're travelling to as so many places effectively require access.

Any zip is fallible if the thread is accessible.

If you make it too obvious you'll draw attention.

Far better to have bog standard exterior.

TSA approved lock.

And hide your what have yous within hand luggage or an interior pouch of some sort.

Unless you have a specific objective in mind.

None are customs or baggage handler proof. Anything of value keep in hand luggage.

You can open a zip with just a pen. The only way to keep them kinda secure is by wrapping them.

If customs want to get in they will just open it though.

This. Zips are ridiculously vulnerable if they're visible.

As for TSA locks, some twit in the Washington Post published a photo which included a side view of a master key...so those of an enterprising mindset promptly made suitable copies. They are NOT secure, especially not for travel to/from US airports.

My suggestion would be a decently rated hard-case (probably with a TSA lock in case you want to go to the US) and then one of those combination-coded luggage straps tight around it and threaded through the handle. Once the right length, masking-tape up the adjustment buckle if you really want to make your case too much hard work to get into.

Thanks all. Yes I understand but my question remains. Occasionally one wants to lock eg samsung soft bags eg just if going in coach compartment or children going with school etc

So if anyone has half decent lock link would be appreciated - don’t need advice on new hard luggage, we have that already!
