Windward islands

its early for hurricanes of this magnitude
this one is visiting us (tobago) later today and into tomorrow if it continues current track and speed. our last full "hit" was in the 60's - we're south of the usual hurricane belt. increasingly windy currently but still hot and sunny. the main storm force starts at around 21.00 our time with winds gusting in excess of 180kmh by 2300
normally we get the outer fringes of the big storms so high winds and tide surges but this one is going to be a lot more.
been quite a year - oil spill, sharks having a go at tourist, 2nd oil spill and now this.

Beryl tracked back a touch and the eye has deviated to the NW. In practice, no longer expecting a direct hit but state of emergency in force and evacuation plans effected.
my area is low lying but i have no flood risk, no landslip risk and the building is sturdy with foundations in the bedrock. Everything loose is tied down, windows shuttered and supplies are procured. expecting supply chain problems for at least a week (everything is shipped in from trinidad).
currently winds are a lot lower than initially forecast but the eye is still to the east and has yet to arrive in the region.
yep, worried. very few people here have experienced this before and our infrastructure is sketchy at best so expecting major disruptions to daily life - the last weather event of this magnitude was in the 60's.
