My 1999 chimaera 4.0 appears to have gaz gold adjustable suspension on the front. I have a squeak which I think is the springs. Can they be replaced and if so where do I get them from or is it better to buy springs and dampers together?

Just phone Gaz if you want to keep the same suspension, they refurb them themselves and are surprisingly cheap from what I remember.

Unlikely to be the springs, as suggested they will refurb the dampers for reasonable money which depending on age may be the way forward.

I've silicone sprayed every front bush, spring etc and still can get rid of the squeak. Any ideas?

Any idea how old the dampers are?

Are you sure that it’s coming from the suspension? I thought the same but it was the radiator bushes (or absence of one of the them). Give the radiator a push on the top corners.

Try tugging on anything that can move or vibrate. Bottom rad hose, intake pipe including filter at the front if you can get access.
Rose bushes on GAZ suspension can cause noise as they effectively have no lubrication system and also seize up.
Front anti roll bar etc etc.

done all of that - if it helps it only appears when the outside temperature is hot!

AVO shocks were notorious for squeaking, there's not much in a spring to squeak, could it be the shocker itself?

To my mind the only place a spring could squeak is where it touches something, the top or bottom. spray with WD40 or similar and see if that cures it?

One of mine had a noise, I just sent them away to be serviced.
Couldn't identify any other areas at the time.
I did remove some rose jointed drop links everyone was fitting at the time, the name escapes me.
Worth doing on old dampers I think.
