Has anyone had success in defending a cloned plate and fine for non-payment of ULEZ fee?

It's definitely not us. We are 300 miles away from the alleged offence!
Last time we had a parking fine from Hammersmith or somewhere, which was waived, but that was 18 months ago. I've sent photos of the car (different trim, wheels and German / French emissions stickers on the windscreen). CCTV stills from wife's work showing car entering and leaving at the time in question. The TFL website still says : Representation submitted Under review' after 5 weeks

Been reported to the Police both times and have the report numbers and submitted those to TFL too. Do I have to sign away my first born to get this waived ?

Today we've had parking fine for City of Westminster, which I'll have a look at later.

You seem to have all the evidence you need to get it dropped, You have already had a parking ticket waived, so why do you perceive you will have a problem?

What happens in cases where this keeps happening? Are you just supposed to spend significant amounts of time sorting it out?

The DVLA should issue a free No plate change if your vehicle has been cloned and new plates supplied at their cost.

Not that this will help you with these current fines but I would recommend changing the plate on your car to a very cheap private plate

At least this will stop future tickets.

It would cost me money in the long term, new plates mean insurance etc would need amending at my cost. I guess I just have to keep sending 'Representations' into the authorities as required.

The latest one from Westminster has a photo with the VIN visible and it's very different to mine, so thats a good defence that it's a different car, but I'll bet thats not on the information supplied by DVLA . . .

How do you think they got your reg? Any online images of your car with plate visible?

I'd go with suggestion above, change your plate. Insurance will just be admin to change the plate.

A lot of insurance companies do not charge an Admin if you change it online yourself on their Portals.

After I've shelled out £200-300 for a plate. Mrs chopper wants to change the car soon anyway . . .

I have also done it online through many insurers over the years that I have had a personal plate & never been charged.

If you put the current plate on retention, it'll only cost £80, and you'll get a new one for free.

I had this last year.

Phone the Met (Any other force will redirect you) and tell them it's cloned and that the evidence is photo from TfL. The response to a red focus getting fines using my grey C5 reg from them was ..they're not even trying now...

They give you a reference and I provided it to TfL. Took a 15 min phone call and some time on live chat/email. But as you're finding TfL are in no rush!
