Hi Folks

Someone scratched against my car while parked at the supermarket.

Can you kindly give ideas of how to repair this?

Thanks in advance.

There are plenty of YouTube videos for DIY repairs but in my experience they make it look easier than it actually is.

Invariably, it will look dull or different, especially when you have done it yourself and know it's there. Leading to a frustration about it.

If this is a cheap car, get a local smart repairer, or just try and smooth it back with a light cutting compound and make it look better.

Note some DIYers might be better than others wink

But I have repainted my entire campervan ( to an acceptable standard from six foot away). So I have had plenty of practice along with varying repairs to cars over the years. I would never attempt on something I really cared about the aesthetics though.

It does look like it will mostly polish off.

Try some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or similar (plenty of good ones, I happen to like Meguiar's, and it's easy to get in Halfords or on Amazon etc if you're not familiar with brands and products in the field).

I think you'll get most of that off easily enough.

I also think a lot of that will polish off & look better - and that the culprit was a red car.
