I've decided to delete this post as some of you have tried to intimidate me and have been unhelpful. I'm suicidal and really don't need those sort of responses at this time.

For those who were kind enough to help, thank you.

Thoughts? On what?

I'm being flippant but I'm needling as what you really want the outcome here to be, I might just think I know. smile

tl;dr? Pay the fine, you did the speedy thing.

Not very helpful.

Pretty sure there is a reasonable delay between limit change and enforcement so it’s unlikely it will have just changed and caused you to receive an NIP.

Don’t they usually have a picture of what the gantry is showing along with any picture of the car?

Do you want him to say "u ok hun?"

Like the other sanctimonious poster who didnt think a bus gate should apply to him as he was running late for an exam, you broke the rule so man up and pay the fine.

Because if traffic was really light then thee can be no reason why you werent fully concentrating.

Hello there, thanks for your helpful reply :-).

I received no picture on the notice.

I had hired a van through a hire company, the letter they sent me was almost 1 month after the offence date and just had the speeding allegation against me.

No idea why you are responding, you are picking a fight, being unhelpful and attempting to intimidate me on a public forum. Please do better. Thanks

You've admitted you weren't fully focused, so you could easily have missed one of the change of limit signs, so you're probably bang to rights there.

As it was hired, then there's also no get out for the time it took to get to you, as the time limit is only for the registered keeper (the hire/lease company usually).

So, what other mitigation are you considering for it to be cancelled?

Just wanted to see what you guys thought and if anyone has been in a similar situation. Thanks all

You asked for thoughts, that is what you are getting whether you like them or not.

My thought is that you passed a speed camera at over the set limit so pay the fine and take the points, simples smile

I have no idea, you are probably right. Thanks

Thoughts which are pertinent to the question, not attempts to bully and intimidate a poster. Thanks

Not picking a fight, just pointing out that as traffic was light there was no excuse for not noting a change in speed limit and adjusting your speed accordingly.

Just because its not the answer your looking for, doesnt mean its not the correct answer to the question.

Not me, and going back a bit, but a colleague got done for 46 in 40 variable on the M42 - 6.15AM, light traffic and no reason for the reduced limit that he could see,

There was a bit of hassle as he was in a company lease car and by the time the paperwork got sorted it got past the point he could have a course - however he managed to get hold of someone (ticket office?) and they said he could do the course if he went that week, so he did.

He said half the people on the course had been caught the same way. He was OK about it all but I'd have been furious.

How very sad. Come onto a motoring forum supposedly populated by petrolheads only to be flamed to the point of being made to feel like this! We're not all wkers mate - I didn't see the original post so can't comment but PH seems to have been taken over by do-gooders who are so far on their high horses they have snow on their heads.

Don't let strangers on the internet make you feel this way - most of them wouldn't so much as look at you the wrong way in person, they just feel comfortable throwing insults from behind a computer screen.

Well seeing as you dont know the full story how can you claim the moral high ground and make myself and the other posters look like a pice of dog crap on the bottom of your shoe?

The guy said it was the middle of the night with hardly any traffic and the variable speed limit kept changing, if there is no traffic there really shouldnt be any real reason to not be alert enough to change his speed to suit the limit regardless of how pointless the variable limit appears to be.

So all we ever did is point out that as he had broke the limit he should just pay the fine. Not our issue if he gets butt hurt easily.

This. I cannot see any post above that is the slightest bit off in any way.

Chap posts on here that he's been nicked by a speed camera in a variable speed limit and is asking, very obviously, for an echo chamber of 'We feel really sorry for you and how you've been unfairly treated for speeding'. Not ONE person has even remotely bullied, antagonised, trolled or been unkind to him or her.

Also, don't call someone a w@nker, and then call out people who throw insults around. Its not a good look.

All that's been done is people have posted their opinion, which may be difficult for the OP to take given they're in an emotionally fragile state, this is not someone else's responsibility to second guess.
