One of my teenage children is going there next week. We want to give them spending money sufficient to get by, not have a champagne lifestyle. How much is required for three cheap meals out and two beers daily in Barca? I am out of touch.

TIA

My 13 year old is going on Thursday with her school, but because she knows everything I’m struggling to give her any words of advice.

She knows all about pick pockets, bag thieves, sex offenders, not getting lost in big crowds and buying knock-off bags from the looky looky guys. rolleyes

She’s taking her Go Henry card and I’ll just add £20-£30 a day, if she gets mugged then I’ll stop the card from my phone in a few seconds.

Kind of hoping she sees something mildly disturbing over there to give her a reality check, bring her cockiness back to Earth.

We are just back from Seville, it's much cheaper than the UK. I think the 80 Euro suggestion is about right and generous.. They won't go hungry or Thirsty. I assume this is not accomodation as well.

I do however recommend some sort of in currency card though . That amount of daily cash is asking for trouble. In Seville all the restaurants preferred card when we gave them a choice but make absolutely sure you have a Euro currency card or the Bank charges mount up.

My opening gambit was Euro 50. Was I being a tight-arse?

The intention is, broadly, to pay what we'd pay for them at home. More than that is down to them.

depends on if they're doing any decent meals, I just got back from barca, some tapas and a sangria will be about 30 euros, decent meals obviously more.

Uber is available now, but regular taxis are cheaper weirdly, factor in a few of them at about 8 euros a pop too.

60-80 euros really should treat them well.

We have family business there (bakery and eatery), I think my greedy parents charged me around 12 Euros for a good filling breakfast a few months ago hehe

Joke a side, they should be careful a bit, loads of petty crime increased recently especially in Gothic Area.
