I received an alert from AT today of a brand new listing on my saved search.

991.1 GTS, nice colour, spec and mileage, private seller, Chipping Norton. A bit optimistically priced but private sellers often are. Looked very nice.

I whizzed off an email query before setting off for work, when I hadn't received a reply a few hours later I checked the ad properly. Hmm..

The car (or cars) was (were) shown wearing 3 different numberplates. Not totally unheard of but certainly odd and pointed to the pictures being taken at different times, at least.

But the red flag was the incredible disappearing Sport Chrono clock. Present in the first interior shots, the last one, 30 of 31 in the gallery, showed a clear lack of Sport Chrono and completely different seats (still Alcantara) to the others. I'd like to know what these seats are as they seem unusual.

I reported the ad, and soon it was amended - without the image of no Sport Chrono/different seats, but still with 3 VRNs.

Still no reply from the seller. I'll let people draw their own conclusions, but I am intrigued by those seats in the no-Chrono sliding doors version of the car.

The ad is here (may well amend itself again by the time you view)

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202406231...

And I screenshotted the picture that was eventually deleted. Check the lack of sport chrono and other anomalies on the dash. Is it even a 911..? Do I spot the rear door aperture of a Panamera??

the 3 different number plates wouldn't necessarily put me off - the 2 'cherished' ones have the same initials and I've changed plates on a car before just because I've got a supposedly better number when I've owned it over a number of years.

The odd pic could just be a mistake.. if they've got a couple of Porsches loading the wrong interior, especially if via a small screen, would be quite easy

Probably still worth having a conversation rather than writing it off over a couple of picture queries

For sure. Though no response to my query yet. Will try calling

Even if it's the same car, the pix are evidently not recent, a common practice which nonetheless is a little irritating. Not buying 2 years ago's car..

Fairly sure, like 99%, that all GTS have sportchrono as standard.

Would not go near that. Screams wrong un.

That screenshot is not a 911 for sure.

It looks to me as though the owner has just posted up shots of the car taken at different times during ownership, having changed plates on the car a couple of times it’s now on it’s original plate as it’s up for sale. I think the odd interior shot is a Cayenne, possibly posted in error or a gremlin at AT, but none of that would put me off.

Lack of response might suggest the car is sold.

Pic 1 with RV65 GWP is same property as pic 28 with V11 PBO.

Pic 11 with H4 PBO is different property gates.

Mini is clearly in pic 1 on RV65 GWP and pics 28/29 with V11 PBO.

Looks perfectly legitimate to me as:

Pic 1 was daughter in car, not something a usual fraudster would do.

The V11 PBO and H4 PBO would suggest the owners initials are PBO.

Probably bought with RV65 GWP and then swapped to PBO.

You're right, and I was wrong. I spoke to the seller, legitimate sale and nothing wrong.

What is the view here of the asking price, private sale and no Porsche warranty?

Pricing is pretty punchy. On your same search there is a similar car at an OPC with 30k on it for £73k which has sat for nearly a year and been reduced from £80k. There is also the car at a specialist for £64k with 35k on it but no GTS interior.

I will say the car you link to does look the nicest of the bunch and as the last service was at an OPC you could add a warranty following the inspection. This could be discussed in the negotiation.

More importantly, I bought a 991.1 GTS last month (a Targa) and it is superb. Really easy and comfortable to use in comfort mode. Stick it in Sport and the noises and performance are brilliant. Certainly last of the breed with that N/A engine.

Thank you, yes I thought the price was strong. Like anything it's about how keen they are to actually sell. Interesting re the 991.1 GTS, it does sound more and more like a sweet spot.
