That's so nice & original. I hope it doesn't get over restored - mechanical resto only with body & interior just cleaned & polished to leave it with it's wonderful patina.

its a lot of work, needs complete restoration me thinks, also has the body been of at some point?

look at the glasfiber repair were it came of the body? or is that standard so messy :-)

No way is that original. It's not pretty for sure.

But then it would all have to be cut out to refurb the chassis anyway.

i guess somebody thought he can protect the (usually visble) outriggers from corrosion by hiding them behind a thin layer of fibreglass.

could have been done after an outrigger-repair...or it was just done to cover the corrosion....

It is an as OE bonded on chassis. These cars can get retro fitted to be bolt-on so that the tubes can be seen rotting away (rather than hidden and rotting way). A@

when they are hidden its a bit scary, or the owner let see some proof say of a restoration and say good state or new outriggers and then plumbed it under again, then not such problem I guess.

But I rather see them :-) or proof with pictures that all is done properly.

yeah, thought the same, and then covering it up like 'original' sounds like a good idea?

some TVR racecars were also stainless I believe and some also used only those most in the gravel/mud/way outriggers in stainless, there seem to be many sorts stainless, so I guess its doable.

love the idea of a stainless chassis on a TVR, or a good sort galvanized example, also fine between the ears against rust thoughts.

Popped in looking for the new owner (In Germany now, not sure if car is there yet), as he sent me an email, originating from here?

Anyway, I saw the car in @2002 and turned down the offer to take it for 20K US$ as I already owned "running" MAL004 and really had no place to put 006. The car is/was VERY original, essentially parked with a master brake problem in 1971 and just sat in a garage until bought and offered for sale by an interested car enthusiast.

So happy to see it running and driving. It's been at least 8 or so years I can say the same.

Cheers,
Bill

yeah, I'm glad it goes to Germany, its a lot closer then the USA hehe

btw, he says >>hopefully Zolder Continental Meeting will take place next year.. smile<<

If he keeps is original as he said, then I guess its possible to get is working and so on without doing a say nut and bolt resto, I wonder what he will do in the end and how he gets on with it.

Maybe he's also here on PH? if so, would be nice to start a thread around the car on here.

or he's on the German TVR site, maybe I can check that later, maybe he's also using that same bodensee name there.

Since I don't stop by here enough, maybe I can't negotiate how to use this site proficiently. However, he found me via a post I made in 2003(!) about seeing the car.
He noted his name here is "Mrlaberlaber"

I too hope he starts a thread about the purchase, found history, etc. of MAL 006.

thanks, then I change that by the info that was by that picture, I believe its on a TVR website from some Italian guy? many great info on there, not sure if he still does it though.

ah, on tvr_unofficial_blog was it, that info was also by the picture.

Hi there, I‘m the owner of this car. Unfortunately the transportation was delayed big time.. but it arrived safe and sound in Germany!

I will keep the car as original as possible, it’s really a great and unique time capsule. And I don‘t know of a complete and running original car from that age. Most (all?) are fully restored. The messy glassfiber looks as original and untouched as all the other bits of the body - and entire car, too - do. The frame has surface rust at most, so no worries there - I will keep it bonded and only do rust prevention

If you know anybody who can provide some more history of the car or the name of the first lady owner, please get in touch! (Via profile and „email me“)
Especially @USTVRDUDE and @velkro from Bring a Trailer

Best, Theo
