Not an event, but probably the best place to post...

I see the new web site has gone live.
www.goodwood.com
The forums are still on the old hosting - I expect those will get moved to a new platform in due course.
Looks okay to me at a first glance... I suppose it is really the detail of the purchasing of tickets that will hopefully show any improvements as there was little wrong with the general site anyway.

Wisdom of an update just before a major event???

My first thought is it seems slower. It might be that lots of people are trying it out, but at 7:30am that seems unlikely.

As far as I can see the changes are only cosmetic. The structure has been maintained and I'd bet all the old links will still work.

You used to be able to tailor communications by selecting primary and secondary "passions" - i.e.. motorsport, flying, horseracing, golf - and that sadly hasn't been reinstated, which is a shame. I really wish there was a way to filter out the "Goodwoof" stuff.

For ticketing I can see there are still things like the drop-down list for amounts, I just put 19x tax-exempt parking passes in my basket, for example.

I don't know about the forums as I no longer have access. I remember when the previous ones changed all the original content was lost (twice) so copy and paste anything worth keeping.

I've always maintained that the site needs rationalising, it is over-complicated and there is too much out-of-date information. All this update has done is change the look.

Things I have noticed so far;
JD Classics are no longer on the site as a partner.
Nothing much else.

I was only posting the link on here so people knew the update had happened, not being critical of it...
I think the only thing that people will really be bothered about is the way that the ticketing purchases flow. I know for one, that sometimes it has been difficult for it to accept orders and/or certain cards. Hopefully that has been sorted.
I used to see a fair few back-end errors too, exposing the underlying hosting - hopefully that is sorted too.

I too would like to filter out the horses, dogging and fashion stuff from communications.
