What is the answer to the waste of talent that are left behind by F1s poor management?

I agree with Peter Windsor here and have been saying this for a while now. There needs to be something between F2 and F1, or something else that better aligns F2 to F1 with something added further down the ladder.

There's other issues too.

I think academies require some form of oversight and review. This applies not just to F1 but all sports. Young kids get signed up the minute they show a modicum of potential which commits them to a single team. But if they don't make it to that team, they're cast aside having wasted crucial years for nothing.

In my opinion, there needs to be more options in Europe for drivers to earn a living as a professional single seater racing driver. Somewhere where they could have a decent career without ever needing an F1 seat. I know sports cars kind of provides this but something similar to the old European Formula 2 would be great.
