Morning all
We have narrowed down our light problem to the ''Headlights control box''
Do they still make these? or does anyone know where i can get one from??
If not where can i send the existing one to be refurbished??
Has anyone had any issue with theirs?
Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks
Andy

What is a headlight control box, my car certainly does not have one. Has someone fitted HID or LED headlights?

From looking it up i think these were only used after 1996.
Mine is a 97.
It is a control unit (PCB with bits on it in a metal box) that sits behind the radio and has ribbon cables onto it one side and main cables the other side. I am pretty sure the ribbon cables only go to the switches.
It controls the head, side and hazard lights.
Thanks

It's quite a simple unit consisting of a few relays and diodes so if you have the skills you could fix it yourself.

You haven't described what is happening and why you think it is the box rather than the associated switches wiring and ribbon cables.

Steve, now there is a thought the only issues I have had is when people have added 80/100 bulbs and melted the bulb connectors. A@

Morning Steve and Adrian

so i have no hazards, headlights or fog lights. Headlights flash from the stalk.

I also have a (maybe unrelated...maybe not!) central locking issue. When i press the key fob all the hazards and side lights flash to set/unset the alarm but the door locks dont work. I thought i had sorted this the other week but it seems to of come back.

I have tested the switches and the ribbon cables and they are all good.

When i opened the box it was very dirty and i could see a track out for the hazard lights.
I connected a wire from the pin to the diode (with a fuse) and hay presto the hazards worked.
I could not see any other issue with the PCB.

I have been in contact with Pete from P S Electronics (seems a very knowledgeable chap Thanks Adrian for his contact) and have sent it up to him to test and repair where necessary.

I am kind of hoping this is the issue as i am pretty much at the end of my knowledge when it comes to electronics.

Thanks guys
Andy

Whilst the unit is away test the connector for a decent supply and ground.
Use a test light not a multimeter as you want to know if the supply will take a decent current. A headlight bulb would be ideal.

Pins A4 and A9 (both red wires) should have permanent +12V (from Fuse 10 & 6)
Pin B1 should be a good ground (black wire).

Note Fuse 6 does hazards & door locks +open
