Got a call today from Rockingham and they are offering a number of track days during the autumn and wanted to know if any Corvette / Viper / Camero etc. owners fancied having an American car owners only track day. Cost will be about £150 per car so if you are interested let me know.

Well they can think about dropping the price first! It used to be £50 at Rockingham a couple of years ago...

noise limits ?

Rockingham is notorious for only having about 5 days a year of unlimited noise...hence thats why its unfortunately failing

What kind of speeds do people run at Rockingham? When I went to the CART race in 2001 the cars were lapping around 220 mph . It must be a good surface so tyres will take a real hammering and I've no idea how road tyres handle the sustained loads of a short oval. Could be fun so long as it's not a Max Power day!

I've been to Rockingham a couple of times the last trip was a couple months ago with Nad and Joel for the 'GT Battle' event (which was a really good track event, no noise limit) both times they used the infield and only a section of the banked track, a couple of turns and the straight past the pits, you do get a good feel of the banking.

I guess they dont open the full circuit to keep the speeds down and avoid lots of accidents as most havent driven fast on a banked circuit. I've been lucky enough to drive a SRT around the Texas Speedway, beleive me its quite daunting for a novice

Hi Sam,

As Viper explained in the previous posting I believe, it will be part of the oval banking and part of the infield.

Is it OK to use street cars on a banked circuit for a sustained amount of time, something to do with oil starvation to one of the banks?
