When I locked the Chim yesterday it beeped indicating that it wasn’t locked properly. The doors & boot were properly closed so I jiggled the sensor thingy that connects to the doors which seemed to solve the problem.

The alarm just went off with the car in the garage. I tried the sensors again but no way of locking the car without the beeps.

Any ideas?

By door switches presumably you mean the lugs at the bottom that gets pushed in by the doors when they close. I’ve held each in to check but still beeps.

Check your bonnets closed properly.
There is a sensor where the bonnet latch is. Try some WD40 and press it repeatedly.

Yes, may be worth removing them to check for corrosion and the wires are still attached.

Be careful when you remove them, as the wires can come off and they are nigh on impossible to retrieve from the body cavity.
I took mine out and scraped/cleaned the contacts on them as they had gone quite green, and one of them still doesn’t operate properly. Thankfully they’re inexpensive from TVRSSW I think…

Thanks for the help guys. thumbup

I’ve checked the switches at the bottom of the doors but not the wires. Also checked the boot & bonnet mechanisms.

I’ll take it to a garage to get the wires checked (I know I’ll mess it up if I try to do it). In the meantime is there a way of locking the car without the alarm?

I don’t think there is unfortunately.
Can you get away with leaving it unlocked?
Or is it parked on the street?

No it’s locked safely in an alarmed garage so pretty safe there, I just won’t be happy to park it anywhere until it’s fixed.

Apparently the siren is in the drivers side wheel arch maybe I’ll try unplugging it.

I know on my car its in the nose, in front of the radiator. Stick a torch in the front grill and you'll see it. Just make sure you get the correct 'speaker' as the horn also lives there (again on my car at least).

Then again TVR bring TVR I guess they could have fit yours anywhere...

You can’t unplug it easily, it’s designed to be tamper proof.
Do you need to unplug it?

In my ‘95 car it’s in the nose near the air intake pipe.
It also has a back up battery too, so will sound even if the main battery is disconnected.

There are a couple of people you could call:
Dave at HF-Solutions is great, and the helpful guys at Bridgwater Electronics.
They know the system pretty well!

Thanks. I just took a look at both websites, trouble is they’re both out of area. I’m in the Suffolk/North Essex area, previously I always used Kerridges in Needham Market who were great.

I'd still call them, especially Dave, he may give you some advice over the phone, he helped me to identify an immobiliser bypass that I implemented myself.

Quite often if the back-up battery in the siren is failing the alarm will sound on its own with no sensor activation etc frown
