I've got a friend who lives a couple of minutes walk from me and has a single garage. He doesn't use it for anything other than storing the normal household stuff.

I mentioned an interest in hiring its use (well 2/3 of it) for the winter and to my amazement he was interested. What sort of amount should I offer a friend? I was thinking about the region of £40 p/m but have no idea if this is high/low or whatever? He's a good friend but not the sort to lend for free!

When I was renting garages for my S, the prices varied.

One mate let me use it for free... he then moved away, so I found someone via a friend and paid £30 a month... then I went to a company that specialises in it, and paid £43 month.

You're lucky - our council have a waiting list...and I'm at the back. I only have a single garage at my place.
