Anybody else done their tax return on-line? I've just done mine. (Funny how you feel better when it's done)

The only card dealt off the bottom of the pack was any two year old tax collected against 04 05 code.

No emoticons though. Shame that...I could thing of a few choice ones to use.

How easy is it to fill in, I am using an accountant at the moment but may consider doing it online next year, I am a carpenter (sole trader) so my books are not too complicated.

The screen mirrors the paper form(ish) so the mechanical completion is simple. As always it's knowing what values to put where! (and you do need to pre register). The process is better on line as one tick leads you to the right place.

Does it give you your bill at the end or does it have to be checked by the IR first.

It tells you the answer, but I believe the word provisional features somewhere.

Aha! How should one attach Formica (or similar laminate) to MDF and then trim it to shape? I remember my Dad doing it using Evostick but cannot recall the technique or tools (probably high by that stage - Evi stick smells great!)

Thanks in advance.

Yert.

Use a contact adhesive (evo-stick) spread the glue thinly onto both surfaces and allow to dry about 5-10 minutes, lower the formica onto the mdf. then using a rolled up rag push from the centre out to remove any air bubbles. Allow about 24 hours for the glue to set fully then trim with a saw and block plane/file, or if you have one a router and a laminate trimming bit.

That's great

Presumably you can get the laminates from the usual DiY outlets? Dad used to have little swatches and had to order the stuff in, but that's going back a bit.

If there's a big bump in the laminate, check where your sandwiches are. I hope this helps.

I thought about doing my own but between resident, non resident, not ordinarily resident and double taxation reciprocal agreement I decided it was worth £100 for someone else to decipher.

Somebody has to have a spare 'flipping the bird' or coffee bean shaking emoticon that could be donated to them?

And when you register, you can choose your own password.

And your password can be un-complimentary about the taxman

I've looked at this recently - quite literally in the last day or so. It looks very good. Having said that, I reckon I could still spend many hours on the site though!
