Hi all, my play car that only really gets used at weekends has developed an issue, and before I go down the garage with it (work away in the week, so not easy to fit in) just wondered if anyone had any ideas, I know this could be a how long is a piece of string type question.
Has been stood for a few months, but that is usual for it.

Drives fine, for many miles, 30, 60, etc, but if you take it to 70 + for a few mins you get a wheel wobble, seems to come from the front, and really shakes the car and steering wheel, and through the brakes. Once you have done this, even when you slow to 30mph, the wobble is still there!

If you were to leave it for a while, you could drive it again with no issues, until you go over a certain speed.

Tyres look good, and hopefully not them as they’ve only done a few hundred miles. Quick glance round the usual and nothing seems out of place.

It would be helpful to know what the car is, as different suspension & steering set-ups each have their own foibles.

Sounds like what's known as "death wobble" in the Jeep world.

Probably a combination of multiple worn out parts creating a harmonic effect e.g. ball joints, control arm bushes and track rod ends.

As above, based on the age it is likely to need a full suspension refresh.

Possibly wheel bearings also.

Cheers

Yeah, good shout, I'll try and get it booked in.

Had it about 16 years, had loads of work done about 8 years ago, and prob only done 8000 miles since then but guess it's the time that's done it.

Thanks
