Have just been scouring the independents web-sites looking at servicing costs for Cerbs.
On 1 site I found a pic of a car that looked the spitting image of ours.
Because I'm working nights & I'm bored, I've done some checks, and it is our car, but not only that, the image has been swiped from my website (before I watermarked my pics).
I don't know whether to be proud that they have decided to use my car, or annoyed that they stole my picture without asking ? :confused:

If anybody ever does that to you, by the way, save a new image to your site with the same name. The new image could say "I am a copyright-stealing b

my wife owns an xkss rep. one of only 50 made. imagine her supprise when she was sent a birthday card with her actual car on the front. even had the cheek to have her reg. on it. seems it was spotted at a car show we attended and was photographed by the card company. and no we could'nt claim copyright. BUMMER.
Never understood the rules on this.
So if you took the picture, is it automatically copyrighted by you? Or do you have to get this done officially?
If you use a picture given to you by another person and then another site steals it from you, is he liable to you or the original picture taker?
And, how do you prove you took the original picture?
If someone takes a picture of you or your property and uses it for publicity, do you have a right to claim costs? what if they use it for a non-profit purpose? do you have any rights to legally ask for the image to be withdrawn from public use?

Copyright is automatically with the person who created the work, i.e. the photographer.
With regard to permission to use the photographed material, it's still at the photographer's discretion with the exception of individual people where it becomes more of a grey area and permission may be required to publish (or it's wise to obtain it).

No different to sampling music tracks (ala Moby) and using them to create new work. Generally tolerated, but still naughty.
BTW, if someone takes a picture of your car/property parked on the street and publishes it in about a zillion places, there is nothing you can do about that.
