Do they actually work, and if so any recommendations?
I've been getting some calf trouble (still sore now after if started playing up running yesterday morning) as well as ongoing back issues, and wondering if a massage gun might be better than a foam roller. Lots of articles online seem to claim they work, but never sure who's sponsoring them. Anyone used one with good effect?

Not a cure for all aches but they're great for giving some immediate relief and they let you work on muscles you'd struggle to massage yourself by hand.
The cheapo Amazon ones are ok but like all these things they have crappy internal batteries that may not last all that long. (And then it ends up in landfill.)
I now have a Pulseroll Ignite Mini and it's very good, but an order of magnitude more expensive. And the batteries are still, of course, built-in.

I think they’re good but really rate the compression boots as a recovery aid if I want to freshen my legs up.
Not sure what make our gun is - wasn’t particularly expensive and don’t use it very often but it’s a decent bit of kit. I think they’re much of a muchness and plenty of videos out there showing you how to use the various attachments.

To use the horrible expression, they have been an absolute game changer for me.
I've had this one for 6 months and regular use on my runners legs/calves/achilles without it breaking/battery dying etc.
